ence grind this week to meet
formidable foes.
The Bearcata, who are in the
unique position of leading their
league by virtue of their one
victory and no defeats, tackle
the Pacific coast conference Ore
gon State eleven at Corvallis
Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers were to meet the
University of Portland team in
Tacoma .Friday night. ,
' The Willamette eleven does
not hope for victory in its Cor
vallis encounter but will be fight
ing to provide an upset. Oregon
State will enter the fray with
three regulars on the sideline..
Coach Lon Stiner slated Joe

The Portland Pilots have come

over those opponents."

Wednesday night, when 23 repre
sentatives of 13 teams, the largest
number ever to attend a local bas
ketball meeting, gathered at the
Elk hotel to lay preliminary plans.
Sponsors of the league saw an
Indication of wide interest in the
large attendants.
The following teams were rep
resented and signified intention
of Joining the league:

Finnegan.
Lowell repremented by Frank
Lowell, Russel Marshall and Lynn
Roycroft.
Lorenz company, represented
by Ray Ward and Barraclough.
Copco, represented by Prentiss
and Hollis Jobe.

Johnny Pastega and Pete Peter

nold Statum and Adolphe.

The following teams, all out-of-town
outfits, were league mem
bers last year, but had no repre
sentatives at Wednesday night's

It was believed that he short
notice on which the meeting was
called may have prevented the
outlying managers from attend
ing, and that all or most of them
will be present at the next session.
Nothing definitely was decided,
as to the makeup of the league
or the starting date. but it was
unanimously voted to bold anoth
er meeting at the Elk betel, Wed
nesday - November'10, at 8 p. m.,
when all business 'relating to
organization will be acted upon.
Officers will be elected, and
the opening date set. The league
membership will also be definite
ly established, and any team plan
ning to join the circuit must have
a representative present or be
permanently excluded.
Persons interested In serving
as league referees, as well as un
attached players, are Invited to
attend next Wednesday's meeting.
