The Klaniath county nbrary is
given an excellent por capita ex
pentliture rating and circulation
rating in a report compiled by the
state libritry on public libraries lu
Oregon, according to Mary Mc
Comb, librarian.
' The report is divided into sov
oral climes, with Klamath's li
braries in the second division
which Includes the 11 county li
braries in the state serving a point
Innen of from 10,000 to 20,000.
These libraries are located in As
toria, Bend, 1411110110, Medford,
Grants Pass, Onterio, Pendleton,
Salem, The Valles and Klamath
Falls, the latter also including
the city library.
In the list the Klamath county
library holds ninth place in per
capita expenditure, which is 1:8
cents a person, based on the popu
lation of the county, and is eighth
on the list in the amount spent
annually for salaries.
On the other hand it holds
fourth place in circulation, 'with
142,718 books issued, and third
place in the number of registered
borrowers, which totals. 7380.
This figure does not 111011110 child
ren in the county schools who are
unregistered but only those with
library cards.
For the total number of books
In the library, 22,819, it is sixth
on the list, and the report shows
that the Klamath county library
spends a larger proportion of its
yearly funds for books than any
of the other libraries in this group.,
