been held to draws twice and
has never suffered a loss.
Neither grappler possessed any
particular advantage ever the
other until Chick palled out of
a wrlstlock and began his spin.
Carr, as clever on the defense

greater extent than ever before,
the United States will depend
upon new talent Olympio fresh'
men in bidding for track ami
field honors at Berlin.
Of the 120 or more athletes
who have qualified thus far for
the final American tryouts, to be
held July 11-18 at KnndMl's Is-
land, only 17 had Olympio experi
ence. Most of the veterans, aa a
matter of fact, will have a tough
time making the team in competi
tion with younger rivals. The
only 1932 Olympic champion who
qualified, John Anderson in the
discus, has an outside chance to
finish among the top three in
the tryouts, on the basis of com
parative performances to date.
Frank Wykoff, Southern Cali
fornia sprinter and holder of the
world 100-yard record, is the only
survivor of both the 1928' and

out a 9-8 win. The Pelicans bad
the tying and winning runs on
base in the last of the ninth, but
their very tough luck that has
pursued them all year again

rable to score the big upset.
Jake Glpe, manager of the
Grants Pass club last year, signed
with Glendale last week, and was
at the helm for the first time last
Sunday. With Glpe, a former
major leaguer, contributing much
valuable experience to' Glendale,
the Loggers should be one of the
toughest teams from now on.
The Red Sox added some hit
ting power to their roster with
the signing of Durascha, former
Pelican first baseman. Durascha
a .333 hitter, was released by the
pelicans last week and immediate
ly caught on with the Sox.

July 4th, when the Llthla City's
annual celebration is presented
with new features and embellish
ments. Highlighted by southern Ore
gon's only topnolch wrestling at

cular water carnival at the Twin
Plunges, guests of the city will
be occupied by celebration events
from the time the mammoth par
ade starts at 10 a, m until the
colorful fireworks' display closes
the festivities more than 12 hours
later.
