' Wilbur Roblnette, principal of
the elementary school, discussed
the policy advanced by all ele
mentary schools of preventing
entrance of children in the pri
mary department who are too
yonng to adjust themselves to
school routine.
Children who are not six years
of age before January 1 ot tbe
year they plan to enter cannot
be accepted and a concensus of
present day instructors is that
an added year is of benefit to
the average child.
An announcement was made '
by Roblnette ot tbe purchase of
a Bett's machine by the county
school board to be used to de
tect eye defects among students.
Purchased through the efforts of
Miss Kay Ransom, county school
nurse, who repeatedly observes
the effect of poor vision on chil
dren's progress, the machine will
be used to check near-sightedness,
far-sightedness and astigma
tism in ail schools ot the county.
One-half the purchase price
was given by the county, and

mainder. - Five dollars was ad
