Welch broth- era of Dorris, have moved their lumber mill from Bonanza and let it up here in Little Valley , and expect to start sawing next week. They have about 400,000 feet of logs in the pond. The mill la a modern, feat running plant designed 1ft Klafl ath Falls, and has a present ca pacity of 30,000 feet per eight hour shift. It Is powered with a 125-borsepower Diesel engine and has a 150-horsepower boil er to supply any steam needs. The Welches plan to add a band rig next spring and double the dally turnout. They -will do their own logging and are understood to have con tracted for some 25,000,000 feet of saw timber owned by Roder ick McArthur of McArthur, Cal. There are other vast reserves of timber available In this vicinity, both - government and privately owned. The Welch mill Is on the Western Pacific railroad about 20 miles south of Bieber, in the same location occupied by the Anderson and Plum lumber mill that was erected in 1934 and de stroyed by fire the same year. Governor Revokes Jack Dalton Parole SALEM, Jan. 23. (UP) Gov ernor Martin last night r evoked the paroleof Jack Dalton, who was sentenced to prison from Klam ath county for assault and rob bery with a dangerous weapon, started his 10-year term April 25, 1930, and was paroled July 3, 1934. The governor ordered Dalton's return from Missouri where a month after his Oregon parole he was convicted of grand lar ceny and was sentenced to two years in Missouri state prison. Margie Williams, Secretary and news reporter. 21ST ANNIVERSARY "The 21st anniversary of the founding of Kiwanis Internation al will be observed by the local Kiwanis club during the week of January 19 to 25," said Henry Perkins, president of the club. The first Kiwanis club was or ganized in 1915 at Detroit, and on January 21 held its first meeting. The committee on Kiwanis Education is in charge of the program for the Klamath club. 'At the anniversary week meeting there will be a special program for the occasion," said Perkins. "Harper Gatton, of Madisonville, Kentucky, president of Kiwanis International, will send a special message which the club is to read at its meet ing." Kiwanlans here will Join with the members of the nearly 1.900 other clubs in the United States and Canada in observing this event. Canadian Bandits Claim Own-Lives To Avoid Arrest VANCOUVER, B. C, Jan. 23. (UP) Jack Hyslop and George Warren, last members of the no torious Hyslop gang, blamed tor numerous western Canada crimes, committed suicide last night when surrounded by police in an east ena rooming nouse. The gang was accused of rob bing a branch of the Canadian Bank of Commerce a week ago, fatally wounding Teller William R. Hobbs and shooting Manager George Winsby throngh the shoulder. An underworld tip gave police the clue to the men's hideout. Hyslop and Warren apparently saw that they were trapped hopelessly, when heavily armed officers, bearing shotguns and tear gas bombs, stationed them selves in close formation around the building. , A squad moved cautiously op the stairway, and rapped on the door of the room the gangsters occupied. Two gun shota roared in the room, then all was silent. When police broke down the door, HyBlop and Warren lay sprawled on the floor, blood gushing from self - inflicted wounds in their heads. (UP) A United Air Lines plane from Chicago, with eight pass engers aboard, landed safely at Newark airport last night after causing many minutes of anxiety because the pilot radioed he was having trouble with his st Ml- izer. For 13 years tho U. S. Department of Agriculture has been trying to convince 100,000, 000 people that tt has no free seeds or plants. Yet each year, as spring approaches, thousands of requests pour In from farms, suburbs and penthouses. And nil the writers of these letters moot disappointment. Years ago previous to 1923 there was an annual appropria tion for tree seeds for congres sional distribution through the Department of Agriculture. Hut in 1923 the government decided to discontinue tho distribution of this great quantity of seed since it was only commercial garden seed such as could be bought from any good seed house and did not necessarily represent varieties better than those In common use. Not only does the Department of Agriculture have no free seed, it has no seeds or plants for sale either. STATE PREDICTS E INCREASE SALEM. Jan. 23. .T A million dollar increase this year In re ceipts from personal Income, in tangibles and corporate excise taxes over 1935 was the predic tion of tho state tax commission. The commission estimated a 83.500.000 tax return in 1936. Last year these taxes totaled $2, 536,000. The predicted Increase In thl year's income tax collections was based primarily on reports from corporations which indicated a general Improvement in business conditions. The tax commission's tabula tion showed a total of 86.501 re turns in 1935, of which approxi mately 13,750 were clarified as delinquent. Of the delinquent returns more than 6.100 were found taxable. Refunds last year totaled $28, 816, with abatements amounting to 88,994.16. Expenditures of the tax department were 8 4 9 , 1 90, which waa 1.96 per cent of the collection. Unpaid taxes on December 31, 1935, amounted to 8120,281. Extension of Bieber I Water Mains Begins BIEBER, Cal., Jan. 23.
