the price down,
There remained steady ton and
price In the butterfat market, but
country stations In general were
reported as paying a fractional
increase. Many of tbem did not
go down when officially notified
of the recent Portland out.
Market situation for eggs con
tinued good within the local sec
tor and In fact along the coast
generally. Porltand prices re
mained the lowest of the leading
markets of tho country.
Small demand was showing In
tho market for live chickens. Hot
weather together with filled up
batteries of leading killers were
chief factor not only against the
demand, but the price.
Trading In the cheese market
remained firm and with well sus
tained prices In practically all sec
tions of the country. Speculative
Interests continued rather keen
and especially In the east.
Higher prices were being named
for strawberries here wltb a short
ago of total offerings and an espe
cial scarcity of large quality fruit
Other berries were about steady,
Small catch ot salmon was re
ported by coast fishermen and lo.

amount of wool is selling In the
Boston market. A little new de
laine fine Obio wool 1 selling at
30c to 31o in the grease, while
old wool ot similar description Is
being held at 32c. Small quan
tities of combing 66s, l-blood,
bright fleeces are selling occa
sionally at 32o to 13o in the
grease. Western grown wool are
quoted unchanged, although the
sale Is extremely limited.
