during the week-end saeslon of

ture by that organization to fol

centora. , Portland price were
officially changed to the point
where demand and supply was
auggoated for some time past.
Butterfat valuta lost le pound
generally along with the cut In
butter prices.
Ern price continued to show
a wide price spread and general
weakness locally despite ad
vance nominally quoted for
some gradea on tho produce ex
change. Actual sale do sot re
flect the advance.
Sluggishness wss general In
the market for chickens with
continued weakness for light
bens, on the exchange broilers,
averaging 1 hi to 2 lba. were cut
with an Increasing supply.
General weakness was sug
gested for both mutton snd
lambs In the dressed meat' trade
with consumers not ' at all In
clined to pay former extreme
values. Other meats were . un
changed for the week-end. '
Extreme weaknea continued in

a compromise In the automobile
labor controversy. Led by' tbe
motors, many lasues recovered
fraction! to a point or more In
relatively qnlet trading. The
close - waa firm. Transfers ap
proximated 650,000 shares.
The principal activity occur
red In the first half-hour. There
was tome quick profit taking,
however, and the volume dwind
led appreciably. Some short cov
ering later brought the list np
to around Its peak level of the
brief seaaion.
Oralna, cotton, rubber and sil
ver futures turned up with equi
ties, although there was little
