Oregon's numerous legislative
sessions of the past year were
believed responsible for the In
crease In oporatlng costs of the
state printing department, It was
reported todsy.
State Printer E. O. Hobbs aald
coat of the department during
1082 was 1146,738.06 compared
With 1116,147.04 In 1033.
Hobbs reported cost per hour
of the printing plant was re
duced 16.67 per cent during 1931
although the payroll Inst year
was $63,144.66 compared to

continued to make a specialty ot

of the decreased totals available
In the fresh trade and consider
able storage stock was coming
out, but so far as can be learned
none of It la being sold as such.
Butterfat values were at least

canvasses the Grays Harbor ter
ritory reported today flood dam
age will amount to $700,000. Of
this total $790,000 was to muni
cipal property In Aberdeen, $66
000 in Hoqulam, $100,000 to
residential property throughout
the county and $200,000 to farms
in the Satsop, Wynooche, Che-
halls and Wishknh valleys.

Marriner 8. Ecclea, Ogden, tt.,
was appointed assistant secretary
ot the treasury today, to super
vise financial and banking prob
lems. . .
He succeeds Earl Bailie, who
resigned when his tenure was
criticised in congress because ot
his past connection with a bank
ing firm Involved In foreign loan
floatations. '
Ecclea is president of the First
Security corporation, which op
erates 28 banks In Utah, Wyom
ing and Idaho, and bis interest
in construction, sugar, lumber
and milk Industries.
He is chairman of tha Utah
civil works administration.
Ecclea is expected to start work
within two weeks, the treasury
announced.
