Most of the lead has been gained with the aid of Llghtner. who waa Cul bertson's partner at the last ses sion and who la to be displaced after the holidays by the return of Mrs. Culhertson to play at least 17 rubbers mora. A set of 1.400 points on Lens when he went down four vulner able trying to make one heart was a big factor in Increasing Culhertson s lead. It was the first session at the Waldorf, with Lens acting as host. Leni and Jacoby won the first rnbber on a brilliant end play of the last hand by Lens, but fortune there deaerted the host. Whit tlesey with reckless driving In connection with the death of G. W. Tenove. on the grounds that the indictment contains insuffi cient evidence to prove that a crime was committed were heard by Judge W. M. Duncan early in ; Hardin C. Blackmer, deputy district attorney, argued against the defense motion. The court ordered that attorneys for state and defense should submit briefs of their arguments on the mo tloyi. Whittlesey entered a plea of not guilty to the reckless driving charge when arraigned In circuit : court. This Is the third indictment returned by the Klamath county i grand Jury against w nimesey upon the reckless driving charge. The first two were quashed by the court because the names of all witnesFes testifying before the Inquisitorial body were not written upon the faces o( the indictments. SCOUTS TO LEAVE Moy Scouts from this area will leave Monday. December 28, for the winter camp where they will remain for four days to enjoy winter sports.
