Face the fact that you yourself, either through carelessness or indifference are partially responsible for America's annual Fire bill: 10,000 lives, 10,000 injuries, $500,000,000 property damage! Face the further fact that you have paid your share of that bill in taxes and insurance premiums. Finally, consider the possibility that next year your life, or the life of a dear one, may be numbered among the 10,000; that your property may be listed in next year's toll. What are you going to do about it? Certainly there are numberless things you can do. Much progress has been made in the knowl edge of Fire, its causes, and its prevention. Science has contributed no end of equipment both for preventing and fighting fire. Modern building materials and - methods of construction, modern heating systems, fire extinguishers, warehouses, safety deposit vaults and' profes sional garment cleaners all offer means for doing your bit to conquer man's most-terrifying enemy. Take advantage of these agencies for your protection. Adopt the precautionary meas ures suggested below. Do everything in your power to lessen the tragic waste of Fire. You owe it to yourself, your family and your neighbor. Eleven Rules of FIRE-PREVENTION 1. Make sure that your match U out before throwing it away. 2. Extinguiih the lait spark of your cigar or cigarette. 3. Take care leit dry waste or oily rags accumulate in some out-of-the-way corner of your house. 4. Build your rubbish bon-fire where there is no danger of spreading, and watch it carefully. . 5. Hare your electric wiring inspected regularly and re paired when necessary. 6. Aroid using kerosene, benzine or naphtha for clean ing purposes. ' 7. Watch' your heating system and chimney. They should be kept clean and in perfect working condi tion. 8. Keep matches beyond the reach of your children, and your children beyond - the reach of any kind of fire. 9. Do not leave your forest camp fire before it is totally extinguished. 10. Keep your automobile or tractor motor clean and free of grease. 11. Shut your motor off when filling car with gasoline and oil.
