ing an exceptionally low round
trip rat to Klamath county
residents wishing to attend the
Shrine benefit football game at
the Multnomah stadium. Port
land. September 26, according to
L. L. Graham, district freight
and passenger agent. The game
will bo between Oregon State
College and the University of
Colorado. Proceeds v-ill go to
the Shrine hospital for crippled
children.

Damaged by Fire
Tony Molatore'a residence at
.138 North Eleventh street wa
damaged by firs at 12:4S p. m.
Tuesday. "The attic and roof
were damaged by fire ' which
started on tha wall at the floor
uf the house and crept up the
wall, spreading when It reached
the attic and roof. Cause of the
fire Is unknown. The city fire
department quenched the flames.

Coqullle-Marshfield highway dur

gram of work for straightening
the road.

Air. and Mrs. B. W. Bates re
turned last evening from Rose
burg where the former represent
ed the Klamath chamber of com
merce at the big Jubilee celebra
tion held at Roseburg Friday
and Saturday in honor of the
new aoldiera home to be located
at that city.
Over ten thousand people par
ticipated in tha festivities and
aside from Senator Steiwer and
Congressman Hawley there were
many prominent people from all
part of the a tale who enjoyed
the program arranged by the
citizens ot Roseburg. The little
city In tho Umpqu. valley was
gaily decorated for the event and
its people were duly appreciative
of the large representation of
all parts ot the state.
Mr. and Mrs. Bate were ac
companied o nthelr trip north by
the former'a son. Rosa Bates,
who will take up his second
year' work at the University of
Oregon, and on their return by
Mr. and Mrs. Bert G. Batea and
little daughter Sally Zoe. of
Hollywood, who will visit here
at the Bate home.
Nineteen Head
Of Sheep Killed
Nineteen head of beep be
longing to Marion Barnes were
killed on the highway about two
miies north of Williamson river
Friday when a Northland Trans
portation company bus ran into
the band.
Joe Queen, driver of the bus.
In a report filed at the aherift's
office said that he waa blinded
by rain and that the sheep could
not be seen on the highway.
The driver was behind the flock
and the wet condition of the
pavement prevented the apply
ing of brakes In time to avoid
hitting the sheep, be said.
Hoboes Migrate
TUCSON, Arix., (U.R) During a
winter month here police officers
picked up 4,000 hoboes who were
enjoying Tucson's winter climate,
but now that warm weather pre
vails days pass without a hobo ar
riving in town.

Dr. F. W. BIU" Peak and
his brother. Joseph Peak, claim
Joint honora in bringing back a
170-pound black tail from the
Pokegema district. They each
claim they shot the deer but
have amicably aettled the matter
by telling their friends that the
"Peak brothers" are the poa-
lessors.

for woodlot and shelter planting

exhibitions of forest fire signs at

Fair.
