name "Green Cross." The green I
cross is the medical emblem oi
the navy department of the United
States, just as the Red Cross is
the emblem of that branch in the
army. Hence the name "Green
Cross" was selected as being dis
tinctive and appropriate for a
drug store.

scription department, which will
be in charge of registered phar
macists at all times.

Epidemic Spinal
Meningitis Rages

SHANGHAI. Feb. 13. (AP)
Kuo Min, news agency of the na
tional government said today a
spinal meningitis epidemic was
"raging" In Chekiang province.
A Hangchow dispatch said that
out of 813 cases at Halnlng, 76
miles sonthwest of Shanghai, (10
died. Provincial authorities were
said to be responding to "wide
spread urgent calls from various
areas asking help."
Foreign health authorities here
Issued a warning urging the
adoption of preventive measures
locally.

regularly stationed at Karall,
South India, and now In the Unit

be at the conference of the Im-
maauel Baptist church. Miss
Luella Adams, who has for a num
ber of years been engaged lncom-
munlty house work under the
Northern Baptist banner, as one
of the staff of the Woman's Amer
ican Baptist Home Mission socie
ty, will also be here. She was sta
tioned at Rankin, Penn., for a
number of years, and is regarded
an authority on settlement
work. Everyone should hear her.
Rev. F. L.. Cass, who Is the direct
or of boys' work of the Northern
Baptist, will be here, and desires
to meet all of the boys who wilt
come to the Immanuel Baptist
church at 4 o'clock. He will make
several talks. Dr. Hagan, direct
