By AL DKM.VKKK
(Former Pitcher N. Y. liiauts)
Don't play the stile ball until
you have mastered the cente
delivery. For your first or strike
ball, form an imaginary line to
the "one-three pocket" to the
right ot the head pin, between
the number one and three pins
and bowl on that line. Use your
natural speed with a three-quarter
back swing and do not force
the ball. For spares the same
rule applies with the exception
that for some spares it is nec
essary to change your position on
the approach.
Lion's Head
Pin Contest
Here Tonight
Much interest Is shown In the
head-pin contest given by the
Lion s club at the Klamath Re
creation tonight. The advance
sale of tickets is quite large, as
suring a good attendance.
Twenty dollars in cash prizes
will be given for skill in hitting
the first pin ot the triangle be
sides tne very valuable mer
chandise prizes.
It the holder of tickets feel
that he is not proficient enough
he may have a substitute bow
for him and still be eligible for
one or more ot the prizes, and
one may try as often as he
wishes, providing he has a tic
ket for each trial.
A ticket entitles the holder to
eight balls and count is made on
each ball, providing the head pin
is bowled over.
There is bound to be plenty
of amusement at this affair, and
some disappointments, because
it will happen that one may hare
hit the head-pin in several suc
cessive trials only to draw
blank on one ot them towards
the finish, .which will ruin his
total.. Of course he will have
hopes and try again, maybe with
better results.

an attack made on him by Coach

Bican. California tackle being
declared Ineligible, denied hav

Warner declared one ot the
men on his squad had played
with Bican at Willamette Uni
versity in 1926 and that this
player bad brought the matter
before Professor William Owen
ot Stanford, head ot the Pacific
roast conference. Professor Owen
in turn called the matter to the
attention of California officials
Coach Warner expressed the
opinion that Price was merely
trying to whip his players into
a fighting mood for the Stanford-
California game November 22
with his statement.
Bican was declared Ineligible
on a transfer rule technicality.
It was discovered be played
freshman football at Willamette
university before transferring to
Sacramento Junior college, where
he played a year before coming
to California. This gives him
three years of football, which
with tho loss of a year because
of the transfer, made blm In
eligible under a new conference
rule passed last November. Tbe
rule, however, was not supposed
to be retreactlve.
Price said he was riled, not at
the loss of Bican as a palyer.
but rather that Warner's action
had brought grief to the young
ster.
