Jackson Beady
Jackson has been working
faithfully and will be prepared
for any kind ot an assault Billy
may make. An additional week
here has given the southern bor
better wind and he la expected
to show up even better than he
did with Chuck Borden. Having
seen that tight the "customers"
know he is a tough boy and hla
more extensive ring experience
may count against his younger
opponent in the long run. With
hts approaching match In San

isn't going to be caught napping.
Heavies Arouse Interest
Second only to the main event

put up a sweet tight last Fri

where he spent the week putting

he expects will be the battle ot
his career. He found that the

Slain Event Promised
Regardless of the outcome to
night. Tiny bss the promise ot
a main event at The Dalles la
the near future. If he scores
a knockout tonight his prestige
will be )ust that much stronger.
Beebe is the best man ha has
ever fought and It will be a
feather In the big boy's cap to
acore a knockout. Don't miss
the card for this tight alone. It
will be worth the money.
Other Prelims Hot
Two other red hot tights are
listed on tha card. . Lee Hall of
Pelican City and Frank Col-
grove ot Chllocjuln, and Billy
Hutt of Chiloqula and Sammy
Bass of Klamath Falls will ml
in two tour-round bouts. Bass
disposed ot Eddie O'Connor In
jig time last Friday night snd
will give the old veteran a merry
tattle tonight. Hall has ahown
op well in his previous bouts
here snd hs can be relied upon
to deliver the goods any time.
Colgrove Is recommended aa an
aggressive fighter, always there
to put up a good show.
Ths matchmaker and commis
sion submit this fast, well bal
anced card for the approval ot
the fans. The tickets are on sale
at the Mecca and Spar pool
rooms. Get yours early.
Clock Watchers
Everywhere yon go yon find
them; people who are constantly
watching the clock, to see it It is
not nearly time to Quit work.
They get the least done of sny
class of employes. They are the
least wanted, as well. In the
school room It Is about as preva
lent as In the business house.
Let ns put ourselves la ths place
ot an employer who Is managing
a large business organization. He
Is sbout to employ a stenographer,
let us ssy. To be safe he Is going
to take one trial. He soon dis
covers that shs Is continually try
ing to do the least work In the
most time. She Is turned down
snd cannot understand the reason
for It
We cannot expect any one to
employ ns If we will do nothing
but watch the clock. We will
never get anywhere It we do. Thla
practice la so futile, anyway
time passes much faster If a per
son uses it as It Is supposed to be
used.
Doing nothing gets very tire-
tome, snd It Is the worst thing on
earth. People get lazy, and can't
adapt themselves If they try. They
don't know how to distribute their
time.
Suppose by some accident or
slip a person should succeed
enough to get a business of bis
own. Ha wouldn't spend his time
to sufficient advantage to ran It
as It should be run; eventually It
would fall. There Is no place tn
the world for clock watchers. Let
ns train ourselves correctly now.

SALEM, March 11. (API
Showing a woeful lack ot co-ordination
In their maneuvers through
out the entire lea sun, Ashland
high this morning played their
final game ot the tenth annual la
ter-scholastic tournament when
the Lithiana were put out ot the
running by Baker high, SI to 24,
tn a consolation affair.
Led First Quarter
Ashland had the better ot the
first quarter's play, with goals by
Howell and Reader tor the South
ern Oregonians figuring In the
scoring. The end ot the period
found Ashland in the lead 11 to
10. Its lead was short-lived, how
ever, for starting the second frame
Baker was put into the lead by a
clean shot by Howard. From that
period on Baker was not to be de
nied. It increased Its lead to 23
to 17 at half time. By three-quarter
time the score waa 22 to 24
tor the winners. The final period
found Ashland putting up a futile
battle after Howell, big Lit hla a
center had been benched on per
sonal fouls.
Baker Gosrd Strang
Crawford, Baker guard, put In
a strong bid for all-stats team by
his work In the Ashland game. He
gsrnered tour field goals in the '
first hslf, but wss held to one
basket snd two tree throws In the
second half.
Engene Routs Tillamook
The second game of the consol
ation rounds played this morning
resulted In s win for Eugene over
Tillamook stter tbe latter had an
nexed a one-point lead. 9 to 8,
at the halt. Berg, flashy Eugene
forward, put the game on ice for
his team by his sensational work
In the second period when he shot
tour field goals.
The teams battled on even
terms throughout the third period
for the most part, with Eugene
having a three-point lead at the
end ot that time.
Tillamook missed several "set
upa" during the closing minutes.
These misplays, together with the
inability of the Cheesemakers to
cash in on free throws, cost them
the contest. White, center for
Tillamook, played one ot the best
pivot games ot ths series.
This afternoon at 2:20 Dallas
will meet North Bend in a conso
lation game, while Astoria will
battle Pendleton in a semi-fins!
