K: U. H. S. Deserves Support
a A T THE outset of the football season The Evening Her
altl expressed the hope that the Klamath Union high
would take a place. in the gridiron rating of the state
ciiiiiniensurate with its size and the importance of the
city it represented.
Some students misinterpreted the editorial comment
as a "knock." In point of fact, The Herald desired mere
ly to awuken the school to its importance in the state and
of the need of taking a leading part in state athletics.
That was two months ago. Today, in the same spirit
that the original editorial was conceived, .and on the eve
of the Klamath-Bend game, The Herald wishes to voice
its sincere congratulation of the Klamath high school
football team for the record attained this year, to date.
Six times the Klamath high grid warriors have faced
'opposing teams this fall and five times tiey have tri
umphed. Once they met defeat, but at the hands of Med
prd high, a team conceded to be the best highschool ag
gregation in the state, if not the Northwest,
:'" There is one thing lacking support -of the general
public in game attendance. The quality of football dis
played by the Klamath team entitles the school to the
same unified support accorded high school teams west of
the Cascades.
f0J .We trust that on Monday public support will be re--vealed
by a full grand stand at the Bend-Klatnath game.
Citizens Vote For. Progress
TCTHEN Klamath Falls voters endorsed the proposed
V-- ?50,000 airport bond issue Tuesday, they exhibited
a far-sighted wisdom which reflects the intelligence of
thb electorate.
I Without adequate airport facilities, this city was
forced to sit back and watch a new transportation devel
opment of which it was not a part. Today, KlamaJTT
, FaHs is in a position to attract major air lines east of the
Cascades.
'' t We confidently believe that Klamath Falls Will soon
bej amply repaid for its original investment in an airport.

Eberhard In The Senate
'X'HE EVENING HERALD is pleased over the election of
. J Colon R. Eberhard, of La Grande, to the state senate.
Hi is an old, experienced legislator and a man of fine
honor and integrity. His knowledge of the work will
make him a leader in the senate this winter. Mr. Eber
hard is a good lawyer and his value on different tommit
tes will be apparent. Fundamentally he is sound and
square. No "fancy" legislation will ever interest him,
foi he sticks by the constitution and all that it implies for
a general background, and his legislative work harmon
izes with those sound and stable principles. . '
