Thron Inbks of cards will lie n-)"J'Cd, The Verdict on Who Shall Be Coroner Of Klamath County Tuesday Klamath county voters give their verdict on who shall he their coroner for! the next four years. This extremely important office must not be brushed aside in the great avalanche of other things, for the Coronor is( an extremely im portant official in many. ways. The Coronor's word on the dead body of a'strangcr, or of one who dies without near relatives, and frequently those who die having near relatives, is frequently final, or has been. Let me say to the voters of this county that the Towey Under taking parlors are a distinct institution in this community, - - They are equipped with most modern equipment and have a high standing among members of the profession. The Towey institution came to Klamath Falls to render service the best possible and it has done so. It has raised the standards of the undertaking business and given metropolitan service to this com munity, even before the city had reached its present size. For this we feel that we are entitled to consideration, as a mem ber of the Towey fifm is a candidate at the election Tuosday to the office of Coroner. '. Her election means a broad plan of service coupled with fair treatment to all. It means the county will be protected in every instance, and also means that the dead will be looked after con scientiously. Her principle is that money is not the only feature of an under taking business and the office of Coroner will not be used by her along that line. The conscience of n good undertaker oictates that something besides the price received for work shall be considered, and in that particular feature Mrs. Jennie Towey thoroughly believes, ' She asks you for your support on sound and substantial grounds. She wants your vote for her election and promises in return constancy to every feature of the office, and a heartfelt service to the dead who will be cared for during her administration. '. Respectfully, , JENNIE TOWEY. I'aid Advertisement ,; . t I Headquarters-427MainSt.-Phone663 To the Interested Public of Klamath Falls Mr. Cofer is not backed by the money of the city? he is not the candidate of any business concern, but he is the candidate of the man who works for a living, the man who owns a home and pays taxes. Mr. Cofer is the candidate with ability to cut out the heavy construction costs so that improvements in the city will not confiscate residence property. - Mr. Cofer is the candidate who will not claim to settle the Strahorn bonds for campaign purposes in order to get votes when two years time has been suffi cient' to bring any such matter td a sho'w down, yet the show down has not been seen. .' . ' ' ' " ' '' -strtoyiSSV' Mr. Cofer will tell you frankly that the time to settle the;Strahorn bonds was not later than when the Great Northern railroad asked and was permitted to cross Sixth street: .But the present administration did not drive their bargain then, and they have not driven it since. For this administration to mention the Strahorn bonds is plain presumption on their part that the people of Klamath Falls are as dumb as donkeys if they vote for the present Mayor after he has shown that he has been working for the Great Northern railroad at the same, time he has been Mayor of this city. , ' ... "' . Klamath Falls needs a house cleaning at the city hall. The Strahorn bonds should be paid for the people here are paying $18,000 a year in-terestr-S50 Dollars a Day when proper effort on the part of the present Mayor and Council no doubt could have Settled this Amount. The Mayor could hardly bear down on his employe, The Great Northern Railroad, as hard as he probably would had he not been receiving real estate commissions from that institution at the time he was Mayor of this city. " ' ' If any reader of this ad is really interested in the moral conditions of Klam ath Falls at the present time, let him do a little investigating for himself. Don't let anyone poke down your throat a lot of guff that is not true. Candidates who play both ends against the middle should be known, and they will be known. Nothing in politics is so despicable as supporters of candi-' dates for leading offices out in clusters one cluster carrying the luster of virtue and morality to the good people, and another carrying the word that is so desired to be heard by those who disregard present day standards of living. Do a little thinking, you voters of this city, and don't get yourselves tied for two years more to the present administration. '; 1 v We would like to know if the Charter of this city is to mean anything to the Mayor or the Councilmen? a number of to violate the Mayor Watters represented the Great Northern railroad in transactions when that railroad was entering this city.' He' had charter to do this, for the charter says: ' - ' " ' CITY CHARTER " ' Of 1 : ' CITY OF KLAMATH FALLS, OREGON No officer interested directly or indirectly in the securing of a privilege or franchise from the city sliall take part .in the proceedings granting such franchise. Section 136. , In case any officer or" employee of the City shall be interested personally as a promoter or stockholder or shareholder in any firm or corporation in any. grant or privilege or franchise sought by himself or his associates or such firm or corporation from the City of Klamath Falls, or any public utility which is sought to be acquired or duplicated by the City, or which is offered for sale or leased by the City, such officer or employee shall be incapacitated to take any part in the negotiations or proceedings connected wjth the giving or granting of such grant, privilege or franchise. , If any officer or person in this section designated shall violate the provisions of this section, HE SHALL FORFEIT HIS OFFICE and all such contracts, grants, privileges and franchises in the hands of others with notice shall be void.
