"pvOES THE average citizen realize the extent of de-- vclopment iu Klamath during the year 11)28? . Does he realize that 123 miles of county road will have been graded and surfaced by the time winter snow flies; that 21.2 miles of state highway will have been constructed; that this summer approximately 100 miles of estate highway was oiled; and that 31 miles of high way, has been re-surfaced a grand total for 1928 of 275 miles of new and re-constructed highway? . Does he realize that the O. C. & E. railroad, jointly owned by the Great Northern and Southern Pacific rail roads, has been extended 26 miles from Sprague River to Bly, and will be open to traffic within a short time ; that over ten miles of grading on the Modoc Northern railroad from Klamath Falls to Alturas has been completed and the grading contract for the remainder of the new line has been recently let to the Utah Construction company; that the Weyerhaeuser Timber company is constructing one of the finest logging lines in the northwest from its mill site 20 miles into the heart of iU timber west of Keno; that the Pelican Bay Lumber company has graded nine miles of its 12-mile log line extending from Bly, the new terminus of the O. C. & E. railroad iuto the mill's timber near the county line; that the Ewaiina Box cbmpany has announced its intention to construct a log ging line from Bly into its timber holdings in south-eastern Klamath and south-western Lake county; that the Lamm Lumber company has announced its plan to con - struct a logging line from Modoc Point east into timber holdings in east central Klamath; that the Shaw Bertram Lumber company, constructed a log line this year tap ping' its holdings in northern Klamath; and that the Owen-Oregon Lumber company of Jackson ' county has surveyed a log line from Butte Falls to a point near Lake O' the Woods? . . Does he know that Klamath county has a registered vote, of 11,203; that this figure exceeds the total registr ation of Lake. Crook. Jeffersonnd 'DesChuOsrCotUitJea which, with Klamath,, form the legislative district from which three state representatives and one state senator are selected? A V Is he aware that there are approximately 35 miles of " paved streets in Klamath Falls of which nearly six miles was laid this year; that the contract will be Jet this fall for the first two units of a $300,000 sewer system in Klamath Falls; that during the year 1928, the Great Northern railroad completed construction of its Klamath extension, constructed a $125,000 station in Klamath Falls, built an 1100 foot trestle across Lake Ewauna and laid out a railroad yard just south of Klamath Falls? Has he been informed that the present estimated population of Klamath Falls, Altamont and Pelican City the latter two merge into Klamath Falls and are, in reality, a part of the city is estimated at between 14,000 and 15.000? 4 If he has not been informed of these developments which have, been going on before his eyes, he should familiarize Iiiinself, aiid,'v realizing that expansion of Klamath iFalls is built on the rock of stability and the foundations of progress, should construct a permanent home in the city which is destined to be the fifth largest city in the northwest. - Now that war is outlawed, nations need armament only to nhow what they could do if they hadn't reformed.
