' Why He Killed Her
A New Jersey, man walked into a police station the
other day -and confessed he had killed his wife.
fEver since we were married my wife wanted pleasure,
pleasure, pleasure," he explained. "She wanted to go to
the movies all the time but I could not afford it. She
"wanted me to go to dances but I don't dance. Today she
insisted that I take her to an amusement park, though I
told her I had ho money for such things."
Doubtless the man's wife may have been a bit insistent.
Yet it does seem as if a man could take the trouble to
learn a woman's tastes in such matters before he marries
her. Once the ceremony is over it is time to make the
best of it. Rushing into matrimony on the basis of a
passing infatuation, without stopping to learn whether
tastes and likes are al, suited, is sure to lead to trouble.
It is a bit hard to work up very much sympathy over this
wife murderer even if his complaint is true.

7 Seven Accidents A Month
A New England motorist the other day wrote to the
newspapers raising a howl because a liability insurance
company cancelled an accident and liability policy on his
aulomobile.1 It developed that this man had been in
volved in seven automobile accidents in one month, and
the insurance firm, quite naturally, decided that he was
too big a risk-.
He1 really ought not to protest. Massachusetts, in
which state he lives, has a strict drivers' license law, and
its officials are apt to decide that a man who has seven
accidents a month ought to lose his license.
If they do they're quite right We don't know a thing
about these accidents; but mere bad luck couldn't ac
count for all seven. A man who gets in that many smash
ups ought not to be allowed to drive at all. He is a
menace to every other motorist and pedestrian in his
vicinity.
The Mind of Evil
In the middle of the famous Boston Common is a pool
where little children go bathing on hot summer days.
The thing is very informal; most of the youngsters come
from very poor families, and most of the costumes are
quite sketchy. But Boston, staid as it is, is used to them
and doesn't mind.
The other day, though, a stout and testy gentleman
happened along and was horrified. He summoned a
group of six-year- olds and harrangued them:
"You children should be ashamed for appearing in
such indecent attire. If I had anything to say about it I
would forbid you to come on the Common. It's positively
disgusting what decent people h;ve to stand these days."
We are very, very happy to report that a group of
older people, sitting on nearby benches, promptly arose
and tossed the evil-minded old meddler into the pond.
he latest statistics show that 83 per cent of the vale
dictorians now have good jobs working for chaps who
dropped out at the 7th grade.
The good don't die young. It just seems that way be
cause they get over it while young.
