Kearly History Interesting The California-Oregon Power company's history In southern Oregon Is an Interesting one, wov en around the romance of early days when numerous small pow compnnles were pioneering south ern Oregon's hydro-electric dev elopment. Gradually these com panies were merged Into the pre sent company with combined capi tal assets representing an Invest ment of approximately 326,000, 000 and serving a territory of Over 20,000 square miles. As early as 1894 the people of Klamath Falls (then known as Lltikvlile) began to be Inter ested In electric light and after almost two years of planning, the sttbjoct took tangible form and a mass meeting In which Messrs. H. V. Gates, George T. Baldwin, C. 8. and R. S. Moore, E. R. Reames, Alex Martin and others formed themselves Into an asso ciation to undertake the enter prise. At this' meeting H. V. It Is reasonable to assume that It will develop at least as rapidly as the 'rest of the Pacific Coast terri tory, and In some respects It al ready shows signs of even great er development. By furnishing an ample supply of electricity to Industries and homes in the territory In which It operates. The California Ore gon Power company has had a large share In the development ot this splendid section. Another effectlvo means of building up this section of the Coast Is The Volt Annual, pub lished by The California Oregon Power company In the. Interests of the. territory served. This Is an attractive 16-pngo booklet telling of the splendid highways, the scenic wondnrs, rocreatlonnl opportunities and the homo-making potentialities of "Copcoland."
