Sailor Jaick Woods Wins Third

Throws Washburn In Match
The heartfelt wish of several
hundred local mat fans is about.
to be-reallsed Sailor Jack Woods !

The ssilor's victory orer Geo. j boys' special opening event from

11. Macbmaker McDuftey an
nounced prior to the main event
last night that the winner would
meet Karaslck next week and
Woods is "it."
1 A Karaslck-Woods bout will be
the best but this is another
story.
The lithe, skillful Seattle boy
took tbe first fall on Sailor last
night In IS minutes, with a head
lock and arm lock. And for once
the second fall came harder than
the first, for it required 20 min
utes and 30 seconds for the sailor
to pin Washburn down with a toe
hold, i Both bouts were fast' and
interesting, a contest between tbe
cleverness and speed of the
younger man and the experience)'
and strength of Woods. : i ' -
Woods won the third fall in
seven and one half minutes with
his famous wing lock, a bold de
veloped by the saildr and used
almost exclusively by him. The
Seattle boy struggled . mightily
but that clinch was new to him
and Art McKee, referee, finally
patted tbe Rogue River matman
for a win.
At this point the scribe sug
gests that the matchmaker insert
gags in the ever ready months
of those small boys whose par
ticular delight consists of booing
wrestlers. Tbe kids, totally ig
norant of the sport, are too free
with ill-timed squaks, irritating
to the wnvtlers and annoying to
fans.' Thr match last night was
particularly elean and both con
tenders are to be commended for
sportsmanship in a game which
offers so many advantages for
unfair play.
In the seml-windup Young Kid
and Thurman Jackson wrestled
IS minutes to a draw decision.
Jackson took the first fall, but
neither wrestler had sufficient
strength left to take another dur-
