THE EVENING HERALD, KLAMATH - FAT.I.S, OREGON Monday, March 12, 1028 . ' ', 'V,' I -..,.,. ..ji. , A I i I: hi Revelation Versus Evolution Subject of Dr. C. Scoville's Sermon Before Large Audience Three groat services featured j the revival campaign being hold In the First Christian church, I Ninth and Pine streets, by the j CHarle Kelgn Bcovtlle Evangell- tie company yesterday. Largo audiences greeted the noted preacher at the morning and af ternoon service with the church packed to Its uttermost capacity for the evening hours when Ir. ; Scovtllo delivered bis famous Ber mon entitled "Revelation Versus ; Evolution," making a masterful defense of the divinity of Jesus! Christ and at the same time hurling many verbal shafts i against all forma of Infidelity and fake religions that deny the divinity of the Saviour. ' Service Tonight. ' In view of the fact that Rev. i V. K. Allison, with the sanction of the church board, has agreed j to let the church be used for the j presentation of the oratorio by' the Klamath Falls society on Thursday night a. revival service! will be held in the church to-! night. I The outstanding feature of yes-! terday's preliminary services was the singing of Mrs. Arlene Dux Scovtl'.e, wife of the evangelist and soloist for the party. Her solo last evening must be given first place. Mrs. Scoville. to be-i gin with .possesses a charming personality In support of beauty, j Then abe Is blessed with a voice of wonderful range, power and quality. . Careful training has! made her a coloratura soprano of exquisite tonal delivery andj control. Her enunciation la re-i markably clear and her singing throughout has the dramatic j flavor of precision of intelligent flexing. Add to all this richness ot equipment a' religious fervor and eloquence in bringing out a religious lesson, and one not present last evening might real ise, in a faint way, how Mrs. Scoville thrilled her audience. Her rendition of "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me," was not only 'clear as a bell' but powerful and con vincing as a vehicle ot Christian teaching. The first invitation of the re vival was extended at the close of the Sunday school session and forty-one walked down the aisles to . take the evangelist by the band and make the confession of Christ as their Saviour. Sub sequent calls were made at the morning and evening services. The first baptismal service of the campaign was observed at the Sunday evening service. Near ly a score ot converts received the ordinance of Chrlstlon bap- , tlsm. Rev. V. K. Allison, local minister, did the baptizing while Dr. Scovlte gave the Bible teach ing on the subject. . Booster Choir Tuesday. The booster choir, composed of children from four to fourteen years, will have their first re hearsal Tuesday afternoon Imme diately after school in the audi torium of the First Christian church led by Mrs. Scoville. The evangelist announced last night ' that, the Bible drill will be open to .children of every church as well as those ot no church af filiation as only truths common ' tq all faiths will be taught. Spe cial prizes will be given the chil dren attending the drill. The program for the young ' people was outlined at the Chrls tlon Endeavor service by Miss Irene Scoville last evening. A ' fourfold program will be carried out ' embracing service, instruc tion, recreation and worship. A pep meeting will be held Tues day night when plans for a 'hike will be discussed. A class in per sonal evangelism will also be given. Forty members of the church will take a religious census of the city Tuesday to determine the religious status of Klamath Falls citizens. The canvass will be followed up by personal vis itation by selected committees. Owing to the canvass there will Bilious days IbW tnauiwnl of tha diMitr ,rMm.
