They dumped the greater por tion of their 1418 gallons ot gaa cline Into San Francisco Bay and came down atllla Field, their starting point. The plane took off with a 3500-foot dash along tho ape-' clally prepared runway. More than 500 persons witnessed the takeoff and were thrilled by a slight swerve and bounce the flyers experienced before they finally got Into the air.
