Aftciji'icwinK the size of the Great Northern'? freight terminal properties on the west side of Klamath river it becomes increasingly difficult to believe" that the in vading railroad from the north will not undertake furth er construction in the Klamath Basin ix the future either south, northeast, or west. The present terminal development Calls for three tracks on property which could accommodate over 15. There is well over 100 acres of land, most of which will not be utilized in this initial development. Of course Ralph" Budd, the Great Northern's presi dent, says that a move to extend southward from Klam ath. Falls "has not even been discussed";, and Arthur Curtiss James, the leading light of the Western Pacific, insists that there is no move on his part ,to build north to Klamath Falls from Paxton, California. ' But we can't help but believe that some time how far in the future we cannot predict Klamath Falls will not be the terminus of the Great Northern, but a main division point on that line's main road south to California.
