On general principles, listen: If Klamath county is going to finish herself and make of herself the well l'bunded out place to live that all would like to see, she must first finish her road program. Now is the time to do it. The payment of the bonds will very largely be done by the additional gaso line tax and auto license fees to be returned to the county, to gether with the forest timber money that comes this way. Real property will pay little if any of the proposed bond issue. Vote the road bonds for it is the thing to do. But, whatever you do, vote tomorrow. Either do that or direct legislation by the people everyone must vote take part in the show. S Formal Initiation of Oil Drilling Made Yesterday Near. Bonanza People gathered at the Lorcman Oil Well No. 1 In Langell Valley yesterday afternoon from Klamath Falls. Malln. Morrill, Bonanza and Langell Valley to witness the "spud ding In" of the first well of the Loreman derclopment. ; Promptly at 1:30 o'clock steam was turned Into the engine and the large drill began Its first strokes on Its way to the interior of the earth to determine whether or not oil Is to be one of the great resources of Klamath Basin. John Loreman says It Is a re source and he believes It so thor oughly that he has bet many months of his time and a small fortune In getting his rig together and erect ing It on a geological structure which to his mind Is a sure enough oil dome. The crowd was a fine, good na tured one and all ate' "hot dogs" and drank coffee and lemonade In quantities prior to the starting of the drill. When all was In readi ness to begin, ' a short talk was made telling of the work Mr. Lore man has already done and outlining his plan to put down the well. It was stated that no ono man ran put down an oil welt and that it Is necessarily s co-operative ven ture. But it was also said, quoting Mr. Loremsn, that no one who could not afford to lose the Inrest mnnt should enter the oil game. Loreman Insists that he does nut want money from anyone who Is not willing to gamble with him on the possibility of oil. He has al ready gambled his time and. 'money and Intends to gamble more until the well Is down1, and It Is on that baxis. that he wanta anyone who wishes to enter the game to come In. ' The crowd lingered most of the afternohn at the well and many cars camei from A kj(atic as the day urocaeded. -A J 1 .1 Milll.l if, tiiiHimaitn Uue to the Illness of Miss Le Lalno West, candidate for the D.
