Ing to Mr. Kennedy, cannot . be

He mentioned the fact that the
first largo building erected in the
busines district would probably
cause tho sewer on Main clreel to
be lowered, for any large building
will want lo use Us basement to
the fullest extent.
Kxpliilns Plan.
The plan under contemplation
now Is to collect all sewage from
different districts at the main
p!jo line which will cross the riv
er on bedrock at the bridge. From
there will bo pumped probuhly
thirty feet high to the hlghlaui
on tho old Whltellne ranch where
the sewage purification plant will
bo Installed. He would, accord
ing to plnns discussed, tak all thn
sewage ot tho city lo tho bridge
and this would necessitate the re
construction of the Sixth street
sower and one on Second street.
The total cost ot the project
was not discussed, but every real
tor Is now thoroughly Interested
In this big undertaking and the
board will very likely review the
Kennedy report thoroughly giv
ing the public the benefit ot their
findings,
Senro tAi-go City.
Mr. Kennedy stntcd the plant
he contemplates .will serve a city
ot 38.000 to 40,000 people with
additional purification unit and
additional pumping units to he
Installed as the city grows.
The talk today by Mr. Kennedy
opens the sewer question for dis
cussion throughout (he city, for
now II Is know what the plans
contemplHto. This brings up (he
old question of whether Klamath
Kalis property owners feel like
bonding themselves for nearly a
half million dollars at present in
order lo construct rj sewer system
suitable for a city of 40.000 or
whether the district unit plan of
installing sewage disposal tanks
at probably hilt that cost, or less,
should be considered favorably.
There are advocates of both plans.
Those advocating the Kennedy
plan aa proposed admit that the
bond Issue will be heavy but they
argue that now is the time to
build for a fifty year future peri
od, while the onea favoring the
district unit plan indicate their
belief Is that KlumaUi can will
follow the example ot soino other
growing cities and construct the
district unit system at compara
tively small cost and yet take car
of tho sewage of the city proper
ly, awaiting until the city has
reached three times her size to In
vest the heavy capital in tho plant
outlined by tho sanitary engineer.
- It Is a question that la bound to
attract wide attention for it Is
l one that means heavy payment of
bonds and interest on the part of
every property In the community.
