Tent Shows
Protection of business bouses of
Klamath Falls against fair weather
establishments which skim the crvam
of trade in tho most profitable titm
of year and then depart elsewhere,
was the object of two ordinances
read before tho city, council last
Bight and passed to their second
reading. 1
Ono was for the protection of the
aters and provided that ' passing
sbowi, such as tent shows, should
be, forced to pay a fee of 75 a day.
' Another was introduced by a dele
gation of automobile men and would
force used car dealers to pay
license fee of flOOO.

' Wants Bus Franchise
.An exclusive franchise to oper
ate a bus lino In Klamath Tails
was sought last night by Cat Crews,
taxi operator of this city. Crews
proposed running a bus line of two
routes, qne from the northern to
the southern boundary of the city
and the other from the eastern to
the western. He offers to the city
two per cent of the net proceeds of
the business and it was at that
point that his proposal ran into op
position. The council thought that it should
sot bo two per cent of the net but
two per cent of the gross receipts.
- "But, figuring it that way, two
per cent , of the gross would mean
Jen jat fifteen per cent of the net,"
C'roWB demurred.
Hut tho council In turn remind
ed Crews thai tile city might not
get anything.
"Wa might cut It down' to ono
per cent of tho gross receipts,"
Councilman Ualslger suggested lis n
compromise. The matter will
taken up next week. This is the,
second time. In the past year (hut
an attempt has been uiudo to cstal)
torla Transit company, sought
franchise. The venture foundered or.
the shoals of technicality, and
has not been reopened.
