the sheriff's office to uid in running
down the safe robbers who have
been looting safes In Klamath Falls
at will.
"They used rubber gloves while
they wore pulling tho job," Forn
crook said. "There were lots of marks
of hands on the safe, but no finger
prints."
Officers who investigated the case
were unable to uncover any clues
which would lead to the apprehen
sion of the robbers.
SCOUTS WANT AVORK
Number of Boys of Klamath Falls
Desire Christmas Work
According to E. O. Nord, scout ex
ecutive, a number of local boy scouts
are desirous of securing work after
school and through the Christmas
rush, the money to be used in pur
chasing their uniforms. Nord hopes
that any of the business men of the
city or anyone knowing where the
boys can secure positions will get in
toneh with him at headquarters.

informed thot the railroad concern
fully realised the necessity of build
lng the safe crossing.
The cost of the underground
crossing would be met jointly by th
city and railroad company. The
public service commission, at a pub
lie hearing here would allocate the
cost of each party.
The underground crossing is one
of the principal projects advocated
by the Sixth Street Industrial club
an organization comprised of princl
pal property owners on Sixth street.

Giuseppe, a young man of Sardinia,
Italy, wants to marry "Jordan," the
mystery woman who several weeks
ago advertised in the Capital Jour
nal for a husband. Her proposal
was that she would pay $400 to n
suitable man whose name she could
use as her legal husband for three
months so that she might inherit
an estate. Some 300 answers to
the advertisement came from all
parts of the United States. Now
they hare started coming from
across the seas.
It the Oregon woman cannot go
to Snnny Italy, then Giuseppe !s
willing to come to Salem but In

000 to finance the round trip and
the expenses of his sojourn here.
Plans are being formulated by the
Klamath Foils lodge of Elks to stage
a dance which wilt bear the stamp of
originality and to that end an an
nouncement WSJ made this morning
of a Christmas dance In the Btka
lodge.

brntlon in which everybody will be
the recipient or a Christmas present.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.. Dec. 10.
(3) The clock that formerly ticked
in the home of Pola Negri, film star,
then ticked its way into a pawn shop
and was the cause of the arrest of
Peter Rossian, actor, on a charge of
grand larceny, appeared again today
in court here.
Miss Negri had valued it at $1000;
the defense differed with her esti
mate. Today the court upheld the de
fense contention that the time piece
was worth about 11 DO, and reduced
the charge to one of petty larceny.
Rossian then pleaded guilty to the
theft and will be sentenced Monday.

PLAN REPAIR OF
STATE HIGHWAY
A section cf road which bears one
of .he heaviest traffic loads within
the county, the section of the Dalles
California highway from Albamont
south to the Junction of the Klam
ath Falls-Lakevlew highway, will be
repaired next week, It was announc
ed this morning from the state high
way office.
On next Monday, five state high
way trucks will begin to haul grav
el from Hatch Pit, a rock crusher
on the jlferrlll road, to the scene of
the Improvement propect. It Is
planned to bolster up week places In
the highway, worn down by the
constant hammer of heavy traffic,
and to Improve the road generally.
Temporary Postal

The senate today adopted a resolu
tion Introduced by Chairman Moses
of the senate post office committee
authorizing continuation of the pres
ent temporary postal rates until
the opening of the next session of
congress or until the committee

Preliminary Work
on Paving Project
Now Under Way
Already plans are being drawn
for the paving of Main street east
from Spring street to the Govern
ment canal and by the time spring
arrives, all the preliminary work
will be completed and the paving
project will be ready to start.
Assistant City Engineer Gene
Henry, as soon as he completes the
plans, will submit them to the city
council for approval. If property
holders disprove of the plans they
may remonstrate at a given time
set by tho council.
The next paving project for 192U
that will soon be under way is the
paving of several blocks on Wordcn
avenue.
"If cltlzons desiring paving of
stroets In their vicinity, would just
submit their petitions this winter,
so that all prelralnary legal proce
dure could be disposed of during the
winter months, It would facilitate the
work both for the district affected
and the city ItBclf," Gene Henry
said this morning.

E. O. Nord, scout executive, left
this noon for Chlloquln, Fort Klam
ath and Klamath Agency where ho
plans to organize scouting. At Chll
oquln tomorrow ovenlng Nord will
attend the regular meeting of the
scouts. Ho plans to return home on
Saturday.
