The three men were Just sturting
up to the mill when the accident oc
curred. No one knows the cause. Lat
er In the day. with no watchman
present, the smnll mill area destroy
ed by fire. Tho origin was not
learned.

Fairbanks is to be the center o
ail airplane trips into the interijr.
Southwest of Fairbanks three fields
have been established. They are at
Lake Minchumina, 125 miles from
this city; Taconta, 250 miles and
Flat, 325 miles. The Lake Minch
umina field is intended mostly
for a refuge in storms which sweep
across that section from Mount Mc
Kinley. Construction -has started on a field
at Ruby, 230 miles from Fairbanks.
An air route between Ruby aud Ta
conta measures 100 miles.
RUSSIAN ACTORS BUILD HOME

and others belonging to the Moscow
Art theater have formed a Bpcclnl
building society1 for the erection in

appeal to 32,000 negro ..members
of the American Y. M. C. A. by Max
Ycrgan, an American negro, who '
pioneered in organizing associations
in Bantu Land. The proposed club
house would bo located at Fort
Hare college, Alice. Cape Province.
Officials of the Colored Work De
partment of the Y. M. C. A. National
Council here expect other men to;
be sent soon to South Africa to aid
Yergan, who in his four years'
there has organized almost single
handed 26 associations throughout
the native wilderness and travels ay
circuit of 3,000 miles to keep them'
in operation. Yergan's request will
be referred to the Conference on
Clored Work, which will be held)
in Washington, D. C, October 21 to
32.
The pioneering movement was
conceived and has been supported
entirely by Negroes in this country,
to bring about "tho spiritual, moral
and social uplift" of their 5,000,000
South African brothers.
