Feng Declares
War On Chang
PEKING, Nov. 27. (P) General
Feng Yu-Hsiang, the "Christian gen
eral," today In effect declared war
on Marshal Chang Tso-Lln. In a tel
egram to the Manchurian leader,
Feng urged that he retire from ac
tive politics. Otherwise, he said, ho
would attack immediately.
Feng continued today to tighten
his grip on Peking, whore an addi
tional division and brigade of his
forces were taking their places in
tho garrison. Meanwhile dispatches
from Mukden, capital of Manchuria,
reported Marshal Chang Tso-Lin's de termination
to fight to a finish
against the efforts of his former fol
lowers nnd other enemies to com
pletely oust him from power. The
Manchurian war lord, whosu stand
appears to be a forlorn hope, Is re
ported to have announced his inten
tion to make a stand first at Shnn
haikwan, 150 miles northeast of
Tientsin, and later, if necessary hjL
tho river Lino, near Mukden. How
ever, only fifty thousand of his
troops arc said to remain loyal, while
100,000 hare followed the revolting
general Kuo Sung-Llen.
Chang's position, moroovor, has
been weakened by tho apparent de
factlon of Chang Tsung-Chang, gov
ernor ot Shantung, who has refused
a summons to Join Chang. Meanwhile
tho Mrnchurian chleftan's foes ar!
preparing to dlvldo the spoils of their
coup.
