MAP DEPARTMENT NEEDS NEW BOY
A map has just been issued by the United States de
partment of agriculture and the bureau of public roads,
which is labeled as the official representation of "inter
state highways selected and numbered by the joint
board of interstate highways, October 81, 1925." It
shows Klamath ktke but not Crater lake. It shows Em
pire, on Coos bay, but not Marshfield or North Bend. It
shows Roseburg, Grants Pass and Ashland but not
Medford. The Medford Mail-Tribune waxes rather in
dignant over it. Its indignation would seem well justi
fied. If the excuse be that the map is designed to show
interstate highway points only, the answer is that Med
ford is the largest southern Oregon town on an interstate
highway. If it be worth while to show Empire, ghost of
a village of two or three shacks and a wharf, it is worth
while to show Marshfield and North Bend. If Klamath
lake is entitled to a place, certainly Crater lake, which is
one of the chief attractions of the Pacific coast in high
way travel, aught to be included. If this is the best the
government can do in map making, it ought to hire a
new boy in thate department Eugene Guard.

cisco they went to Southern Cali
