l overwhelming majority the people
of Medford at a special election yes
terday voted (or a new city water
system with a source at Big Butte
Springs, over 30 miles away, to loos
when completed $975,000.
A bond issue of $50,000 for a
new temporary city hall i.vas also
voted three to one, it being under
stood that this building will be used
as a temporary court hou;.?, in case
the people of Ja'.'ksoa count, vote to
move the present court house at
Jacksonville to this city.

Marcheff, a goat-herder, has become
a rich man for revealing to the
police the mountain hiding place of
Mitu Ganeff, notorious chief ot a
robber band. Marcheff had been
one of the bandit's victims for a
long time, being obliged to furnish
food and other supplies. Conse
quently, It afforded him great pleas
ure to guide the police to Ganeff's
hiding place.
As a reward the ministry ot the
interior presented Marcheff with 40,
000 lire; the district of Haskovo
gave him 200 sheep and a money
reward, and the community of Su
