Johnson pitched the world champion Washington Sena
tors to a brilliant victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates
today, 4 to 1 in the first game of the 1925 championship
series.
A vast and colorful crowd of 45,000, filling the field
to capacity, saw the downfall of their favorites and
national league'ehampions, who were baffled and held
to five hits by Johnson while the Senators hammered
