county by state prohibition forces

The cold and Indisputable figures
as reported to District Attorney Kl
liott by tho state prohibition depart-
j ment are as follows: Arrests in
Klamath. 24: convictions. 23: fines
assessed 13261.50; fines paid, $2,
651 .50; number of days liquor vio
lators served In Jail. HO.
Multnomah county, the most pop
ulous In the state, comes next, the
prohibition report shows, with 17
arrests und 12 convictions. Com
pared to Klamslh. neighboring coun
ties are pure and unsullied. Jackson
county bIiows 11 arrests, five con
victions, and ISOO In fines, during
August. In Deschutes county, seron
were arrested, one convicted and
250 In tines paid. Not one ar
rest for violating the liquor law
made In either Crook county or
Josephine county. Lake county
shows one arrest, one conrictlon and
one fine of 100 during August.
They hand out stiff Jolts in Lane
county, the report discloses. Twelve
were arrested during August on
liquor violations, six were convicted
and were assessed fines aggregating
13335 and sent to Jail for 1010
days.

Charged with having no permit
from the public service commission
to operate a for hire car, George
Duke was to have appeared beforo
Justice of tho Ponco Ed Kendall
this afternoon to answer the com
plaint filed by J. S. Cassldy con
nected with tho state commission.
The arrest was made Tuesday night
at Odell lako by Cassldy.
