struction of a pile bridge, 315 feet
long, across Lost river. It was an
nouu.'ed this morning by County
Road Engineer Frank Z. Howard.

It 'la located on the state line, west
of Malin, on the state line road.
Authorization to advertise for
bids on the project was to have
been authorized this afternoon.
The bridge is a cooperative pro
je;t between Klamath county and

counties;, oaing to the fact th.it
bridge is located on the Oregon
California boundary line, have a
greed to cooperate on a 50-50 basis
in the cost of construction.

Midland Market Road Con
tract Saturday
H. F. Vicory was awarded the
Midland market road contract Sat
urday, but with an If attached to
the award.
The condition is that Vicory will
get the Job If the state market road
engineer approves bis bid. The
county court, although refusing to
re-advertise for liHu, njt willing to
take the entire responsibility of
awarding the road contract.
There were two bidderB for the
project, Maddox and McGrath and
H. F. Vicory. When bids were
opened last week, it was found that
Maddox and McGrath were the low
bidders in point of actual cash offer,
with a bid of 18598.40.
It was also found, according to
reports, that Vicory had failed to
bid on 300 cubic yards of
excavation and had failed to pro
vide a surety bond, necessary by
law.
Vlcory's bid was changed, in
open court. That Is, ne was allow
ed by the county court to bid on
the rock excavation after the road
bids had been opened.
Maddox and McGrath underbid
Vicory by $78.50. The county
court s reason in giving the high
bidder the contract wus said to be
a question of time. Vicory in his
bid stated he would complete the
project In 35 working days. Mad
dox and MeCJrath stated they would
take till December IS to finish.
Ground Broken for
New Munger Plant
On Klamath Avenue
Ground has been broken and a
crew of workmen were busily at work
this morning on the foundation of
tho new Munger laundry that Is be
ing erected on the corner of Fourth
and Klamath.
Construction of tno plant will bo
hurried in order that bad weathor
may not interfere, as it is hoped to
occupy the building before winter.
The Investment in the project Is ap
proximately 135,000.
Formerly it was planned to build
tho laundry on Main street, adjacent
to the Imperial garage, but, realli
ing the advantage to be gained by
being close to the city heating plant,
the owners decided to movo the lo
cation to Fourth and Klamath.
