Dr. Haberer arrived at Klamath
Falls yesterday from St. Louis, Mo.,
and joined Dr. Dietsche and Dr.
Burchardi, specializing in different
branches of internal medicine such
as blood diseases, bacteriology, trop- I
ical diseases, etc.
Albert Haberer was born in Baden
(South Germany! in 18C4. He
studied medicine in Strasburg and
Wurzburg and in 1S9G he obtained
the degree of Doctor of Medicine
(M. D.) at Wurzburg. Ho then
studied Natural Philosophy in Ber
lin and raunich and in 189$ the de
gree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.
D. ) was conferred upon him at
Munich.
From 189S until 19U4 he made
scientific expeditions in China,
Japan and Formosa by order of the
Academy of Munich. He undertook
deep sea researches in -the Sagami
Bay near Yokohama and in China
for Fossil Mammalia of the Tertiary
Period. Over sixty new specimens
of this peculiar Fauna were discov
ered about which appeared great
publications by German Scientists,
such as Schlosser. Maas, Dotleln,
Fischer nnd others.
During the Boxer expedition in
the years 1900-1901 he served as
scientist nnd ns interpreter for the
Japanese language.
From 1901-1906 he studied Trop
ical diseases in the famous institute
of Hamburg, and in 1906-16 served
the German government ns physician
and commissary in Cameron to fight
agnlnst sleeping sickness, malaria,
hookworm and other diseases pe
culiar to tropical countries.
In the years of 1910 and 1911
hp accompanied Duke Adolph Fred
erick, of Meckenburg. In an expedi
tion to Central Africa as Scientist.
Tho repnrta of this expedition:
"From the Congo to. the Niger and
Nile," came out In two volumes.
In 1910 be received the alrge
medal for Arts and Sciences from
the Bavarian Aendemy, Munich.
Dr. Haberer has written the fol

Skulls and Skeletons from Peking.
Reports of the expeditions in Cam
eron 1906-14.
