Two weeks ago, a women who Is

The woman reported her finding,
but little was thought of it. as set

found, and news of this and the find

Veteran Express
Messenger Dead
From Gun Wounds
SANTA ANA Calif., Aug. 27. (P)
A bullet wound received last Mon
day night by Elmer Campbell. 62
year old express messenger, durmg
the hold-up between here and Ocean

75, caused his death here early to
day. Campbell had not regained con
sciousness since he was found lying
in a pool of blood when his train
reached here Monday night. He ap
parently had been shot by the rob

a ventilator.

Swan Swanson is Killed at
Shaw-Bertram Mill Early

Swan Swanson, aged 37,
lumber piler for the Shaw
Bertram Lumber company,
was crushed to death at
9:30 this morning under a
pile of lumber that toppled
off a truck.
Death came practically in
stantaneously from fractures
of the skull.
Swanson, who had been
employed at the mill since
early spring, was lifting the
heavy green lumber from
the trucks onto the piles
when the tragedy occured.
He was helped by a co
worker, Fred Brobom.
Suddenly the pile of lum
ber shifted slightly and then
tumbled off the track, crush
ing Swanson to the ground.
Frobom nearby managed to
get out of the way of the
flying planks.
Swanson resided in Klam
ath Falls, at 709 North 11th
street He is survived by
a widow and one child. The
body was taken-in charge by
Coroner Earl Whitlock.
Swanson was a native of
Sweden and had been a cit
izen of the United States
for 16 years. He had been
married only 18 months.
During the world war he
served with the United
States Armies in France. He
is a member of the Swedish
Fraternal organization, the
Order of Basa.
Funeral services have
been tentatively set for
Sunday.

Fifteen cases of home brew beer
with a powerful kick were confiscat
ed last night near the end of Crescent
avenue in an abandoned cabin, by
Deputy Sheriffs Moneymaker and
Burke and State Prohibition Agent
McBride.
Two men named Kbner and Smith,
residing in an adjoining house, were
taken into custody on suspicion, but
wero released today when It appear
ed there was not sufficient evidence
to hold them.
Before releasing the two men.Ic

tain finger prints wero taken from
the confiscated beer and nn attempt
