tax since August :!1, 1S21. The tax
now Is two cents gallon, having
been raised from tile orignal one
cent levy. At present the yield
from Ihe tax is close to $'jro.iiiiu
monthly, a sum sufficient to paw
10 miles of highway that already
has been graded.
All money from the gasoline tux
is used tn build roods. This fund,
and th license fees from automo-!
bile drivers have been largely re
sponsible for the improved high
way system in the state.
