June 19th a full-fledged tuurtli-r'.a.-'S
post office was established here, and
from thai time Diamond Lake lias
been officially on tho map.
In reality Diamond Lake as a set
tlement Is four years old. In 1921
George Howard, chief deputy sher
iff ot Jackson county and Medford,
camo in with a band of helpers and
proceeded to build Diamond Luke
Lodge and the several other build
ings of the city. For two years .(
post office was refused Diamond
Lake, partly because of another post
office named Diamond In central
Oregon, and because of the settle,
ment's doubtful maturity.
Records for tho first month show
that Diamond Lake Is indeed worlay
ot a post office. Mail has cone at

in over 20 times, tho post being
carried by the Diamond Lak; Im
