LISBON. VP) The head ot the
criminal investigating; police has be
come one of the most popular men
in Lisbon because of his activities
in rounding up the leaders in the
recent bomb outrages. As a re
sult SO of -the most dangerous ex
tremists nave beqn deported to vest

Littlo effort bad been made to ap
prehend the -trouble makers until
the attempted assassination of
'Colonel Ferrolra do Amaral, head of
the Lisbon police,, who was shot on
a street corner. Only-one of the
group ' of assailants was arrested at
the time,'; but -rigid" Investigations
soon revealed the .identity of the
others and -all were taken into cus
tody! This proved an easy task
when the police decided to act. be
cause the loaders, having escaped
arrest after previous outrages, be
came bolder with each succeeding
one and did not take the trouble to
bide from tho police.
Colonel A moral's fine record in
the World war won for him "gen
eral admiration and the police of
all sections of Lisbon Joined in a
concerted move to apprehend bis
assailants.
The investigations revealed that
the terrorists in addition to the
bomb outrages .'had been guilty of
robberies and extortions, it having
been sbown that one ot tho Lisbon
banks .had given large sums of
money to the men under threat of

their possession, so wero arrested
and taken to Yroka. The theft took
place While tho owners were attend
ing the rodeo at Klamath Falls.
