Acting District Attor
ney Doubtful of
Prosecutions
With nearly -60 half-completed
cases to luveatlgnta. Caleb Jouea,
acting district attorney, la busy un
ravelling a tnnxled maio ot pur

dropping those canes In which prose
etition would bo a needless waste of
time mid money.
"Many of those cases that t have
Inherited from tho last ndmlnlstru

fice will probably bo dismissed."
he said today. "I feet thut the state
before taking n case Into court
should have at leust -prima facie
evidence to give them some stand
ing In court. Many of those rases
lack that evidence, nor Is there any
way to secure It. So I feel that tho
best Interests of the county would
best be served by dropping cases of
that description.
. Tho district attorney declared
himself set against utilising his of

of one person against another.
"One man wants to get satisfac

Girl Gained 7 Pounds
Nine Years an Invalid
That's just what McCoy's Cod
Liter Oil Compound Tablets did for
the Babcock Girl and is doing as
much for tens- of thousands, thin,
underweight, weak and discouraged
people all over America.
These sugar coated, pleasant to
take tablets should be given to
children instead ot the vile stomach
upsetting oil Itself they surely do
help the frail, delicate little ones
and 60 tablets cost but 60 cents at
the Star'. Drug Store, Underwood's
Pharmacy, Whitman's Drug Co., or
any real druggist anywhere in
America, .'''''.
Read this letter if you have a child
that needs to gain 'health and

Some wise observer has remarked
that "distance lends enchantment."
And it is true that the foreign .lic
ense plate gets your eye quicker,
that imported goods are supposed to
be much better than home manu
factures, and distant fields always
attract us beyond the point where
we happen to be. So the masses of
the people on the Atlantic seaboard
are subject to the same apparent Il
lusion with respect to the attractions
of ' the ' Pacific ' coast except tljat
when they get out here they find
that realization outruns anticipation.
This is one of the traits of human
8 yean when I saw an ad ,in the nature which will be capitalized

(D. O. K. K.) plays in eastern cities
next August. Not only will it be a
good band concert In every Instance,
but the mystery of the land from
which the band boys come a land
which can furnish such a band, my
thical, alluring, far off Crater Lake
country, 3,000 miles away toward
the setting sun will stimulate their
Imagination and lead them to read
and to listen to what they can learn
about such a land.
The East thinks of the West still
as the land of wild Indians, and they
would not be surprised at a buck
skin band; but to see a splendidly
uniformed, well-trained, high-class
band of the first grade competing
and winning prizes against the best
units of the continent, they will
know that there is something" Jn this
far west besides tho tall timbers.
Tho appearance of such a band will
be a news Item, so recognized by
eastern papers, and many inches of
valuable space will be devoted to ad
vertising It and the country from
which It comes. Beautiful Crater
Lake, and the glorious country that
surrounds it on every side, will be
held up to the general public as
never before.
The Immediate problem, here and
now, is so to advertise the trip which
the band proposes to make, that the
people of the various communities to
be represented will make It possible
for the band to go. If the Crater
Lako Country doesnT support the
band, the band will stay at home,
The members of tho band have asses
sed themselves for a part ot the ex
pense, and of course wilt give their
time. The Imperial Palace of the
D. O. K. K. will pay a portion, of the
expense out of a fund raised for that
purpose. But the distance is great,
and If the band Is to go and the big
Idea is to be put over, it must be
supported by Douglas, Deschutes,
Josephine, Jackson, and Klamath
counties in Oregon, and Siskiyou
county in California. This is exact
ly what is being done, for public of
ficials , and . civic organizations. In
these counties have caught the in
spiration of the Idea of this trip, and
are lining up with their moral and
financial support.
The Dokkles will be In Klamath
Falls for their annual ceremonial' on
June 20th; and In connection With
that the local committee has arrang
ed for a big concert by the Crater
Lake Temple band, to be followed by
a big dance at the Moose ball, for
which the band will also furnish
the music. These two evonts are the
means by which Klamath Falls and
Klamath county can show their ap
preciation and endorsement of the
eastern trip of the band, and at the
same time get tbelr fnlt money's
worth. 80 when the boys come to
see you "with the tickets for these
events, don't limit yourself to the
tickets you expect to use yourself.
Let's "tell the world" about Klam
ath Falls and the Crater Lake coun
try, through this band,' In a way that
wjll make 'em remember It, and
come out to look at It. We'll more
than got our money back, because:
"It pays to advertise."
