BALTIMORE. (IP) Dr. Ray
mond P. Dougherty, professor of
Biblical literature at Gaucher col-,
lege, has been appointed annual
professor ot the American Schools
of Oriental Research at Jerusalem
and Bagdad for 1925-26. He has
been granted a year's leavo of
absenco by tho local institution, and
will leave tor the near east the 1st-
tor part of July.
Dr. Dougherty said his work wilt
include lecturing and field work
along archaeological lines, with
special time given to a study of the
topography of the land and an ex
amination of mounds with the pos
sibility of identifying sites , of an
cient cities. The new appointee is
well known for bis work la tho
translation ot Babylonian tablets.
