TENNANT ITEMS
- Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Wlngfleld re
turned Thursday evening from their
trip to 'southern Oregon; they report
a fine time, and that they especially
enjoyed the fresh fruit and vege
tables of the Rogue River valley.
' The Misses La Thompson and
Ora Harris of Alameda, California,
arrived in camp Thursday by motor
for a two weeks visit with Miss
Thompson's Bister, Mrs. P. S. Ford.
Both young ladies are teachers in
the Alameda schools.
; The Wlldwood Guild held their
regular monthly social Wednesday
afternoon in the guild social hall. It
woe well attended, and all enjoyed
a delightful afternoon. Mesdames
Dollarhide, Dlekin, and Boyes were
the hostesses and served delicious
refreshments.
Mrs. W. M. Clinton returned Fri
day from her southern trip.'
Mr. and Mrs.: Alva Herod and
daughter Latbell left Saturday for
Eugene,' Oregon, to spend a few
days with' Mr. and Mrs.. Gray Boy
kin. Mr. and Mrs. Boykln formerly
lived in Tennant. . v
Dr. Joseph Sandie left Sunday for
Los 'Angeles;' California. Dr. Sandie
needed a 'nurse, so concluded to
marry one. He expects to return to
camp "with his bride In about two
weeks. u Congratulations doctor, we
will be ready for you on your re-
turn. .
' Dr. C. C. . Trousegaard, of Los
Angeles is taking care of the camp
patients during" Dr. Sandie's ab

ful day Friday with Mrs. Ed Miller
at her home on 202 B street, having
as. guests Miss Ln Thompson and
Miss Ora' Harris, who are visiting
Mrs. F. 8. Ford. "'
. The Amusement club gave a dance
Friday night for the benefit of the
baseball boys. The dance was well
attended and all enjoyed the good
music and supper which was furnish
ed by the ladies of tbe camp.

the evening.

Mrs. Fred Stewart arrived in Al
goma last week from Oakland, Cal.
Mrs. Stewart will spend the sum
mer here with her husband, who is
master mechanic for the Algoma
Lumber company.

Mrs. Henry Foreman . and two
sons arrived In Algoma last week
from Seattle to spend the summer
with Mr. Foreman, who is head

FORESTRY IN" ENGLAND
The factory commission has ful
filled its intention of planting 14,'
000 acres with young" trees this
winter, thus keeping up with the
schedule ot 150,000 acres to be
planted by 1929, states tbe Journal
of Commerce, London. Next winter
18.000 acres will be planted,, and
the first government pit props will
be on sale for British collieries by
1933. In lhe old crown woodlands,
such as the New Forest, tbe Forest
of Dean,' and the woods overhang
ing Tintern Abbey,, hardwoods such
as oak and beech, are being planted.
The forestry commission is, how
ever, planting mostly firs. . .

NEW TYPE MOULDING HEADS
The new fast-feed door sticker
heads designed by Wm. C. Hobart,
superintendent the Wheeler Osgood
company, Tacoma, Wash., consist of
a moulding and grooving head car
rying six bits on each ot the mould
ing sides of the piece to be worked
and six grooving bits for each bide
of the groove to be worked. The
moulding bits are straight milled
and the grooving bits are circular
milled, the head carrying 24 bits.
The' jointer head carries six bits
for the straight work and six bits
for the rounded edge. . The top
rounding bits can be exchanged.for
bits that will cut different, widths,
of Btock and carry a total o(l&
bits. ,.

"The 1 Japanese sawmills arc
equipped with band mills, pur
chased In the United States and
other countries. They carry very
fine gauge saws, which are effici
ently filed and do good work," said
Neil Cooney, manager, of tho Grays
Harbor Commercial Co., Cosmopolls,
Wash., on his recent visit to Port
land. "Every man connected with
the sawmills I saw were Japanese,
and they seem to cut lumber pretty
efficiently. It is a matter of resaw-

hauled to Lakeport - In the next
few months.

business, the Weed Lumber Co.,
Weed, has been working overtime
several nights a week in its box
department and cutting department
of the sash and door factory.
The Pacific Lumber Co., Scotia,
will construct a new steel building
over its turblno room at mill A, the
contract having been lot for tbe
steel work to the Eureka Boiler
Works. Construction will begin
about June.
McCloud River Lumber Co.. Mc-
Cloud, is planning to construct
remanufacturing plant 100x230
feet. Tbe company expects to manu
facture more lumber this year than
during any year in the past. Pro
duction last year amounted to ap
proximately 150,000,000 feet. .
The luba River Lumber Co. has
filed articles of incorporation at
Marysville, showing ' the following
directorate: James D. Poole. J. A
B. Smith and William F. Mandery.
The company Is capitalized at 150,-
000 to operate a mill at Challenge,
having a capacity of 25,000 feet per
day.
In order to keep three trains con
tinuously busy hauling logs to its
new electric mill at Diamond
Springs, the California Door Co.
has purchased 20 new flatcars and
a new donkey. Of the 12 units to
be added to-the sorting table, six
are now complete and work- is being
rushed on the remainder. Tbe com
pany is also planning to add six
more dry kllns. making a total of
12, ln order to handle its increased
