CAMPFIRE GIRLS
BACK FROM TRIP
Identifying some4u different ve
rities of flowers, swimming, canoe
ing, fishing and a 2Vi mile hike
with Mr. Cone as guide, were among
the things the Camp Kiro girls en
joyed on their recent outing at
Lake of the Woods..
The glrU who wore uuder the
guardianship of . Mrs. L. P. Sabln
and Mrs. A. L. Rice, returned list
evening, tire local cars and a truck
going out to camp yesterday noon
fjr' them. John Boylo ot tho Cali
fornia Oregon Power company fur
nished tho truck to bring the pro
visions back to the city, while the
cars wore furnished by local people
Tho weather was good and had it
not been for the rocent rain which
got into one ot tho larger tents,
which leaked, the girls would have
been able to remain tho full period
of time tbat had been planned.
Evenings were spent around tho
cumpfire with stories and songs.
A freak law pussed iy tho lust
legislature Is today the cause ot a
conference between W. T, Loo,
county assessor and C. C. Mann.
LiKo count v assessor.
The law states that in tho case
ot stock which is pastured In mora
than ono county, it shall bo de
termined In which county the stock
Is wintered and in which It Is lo
cated on March 1.
This county Is then entitled to B0
per cent of the revenue received
from taxation, while tho county In
which stock spend that portion ot
tho summer utter March 1 Is en
titled to only 40 per cent ot tho
tax revenue.
Tho question, while theoretically
simple, is provlug a bird one In
tho case of Klamath and Lako
counties where boundary lines mean
llttio and where herds wander on
the range at will.

Grocery Costs
Here Less Tfhan
In Los Angeles
Klamath Fulls prices on tho neces
sities of lite, particularly groceries,
are on a par with prices for similar
articles in Lob Angeles, and In many
cases even lower.
This is the declaration ot Dr. J.
U. Coble, who with Mrs. Goble re
turned . yesterday from a . tour
through southern California.
"Oranges aro cheaper In Los
Angelea than here, but that Is about
the only exception." Or. Goble sold.
"Staplu groceries are. about the
same, with the exception of sugar,
which sold tor a llttio less, tho dif
ference probably being accounted
for by the freight, llents woro high
er in most Instances than they aro
here.
"I visited a son in tho suburbs and
failed to sec whero he effected any
economics by virtue of California
prices. Outside of tho citrus fruits,
there is little saving over local
prices, even at the big markets."
