MONDAY,
' THE STRAHORN
The time has come, when
-jn? of the stewardship of
handling the fund for -the
manded by Mr. btrahorn as part of the consideration
for, his. coming here and building a railroad to Bend.
Since that; fund, was started no report has been made
and not Qne contributor with whom we; have-come in
contact, has. been able to tell us' what was done' with
the money. !- " ; 7
. ; It is our undei-standing that this site was purchased
on. the written promise on the part of Mr. Stiahorn he
would do certain things that
is coirect,' then the trustees should sell . the property
and return to the donors the money contributed by them.
.So! far as the Herald is concerned, it is not going to
quietly submit to the turning over of this property to the
Southern Pacific. Neither is it going to be a silent party
to the use of this property as a stumbling block to the
entrance of other railroads into Klamath Falls. The
people of this city handed over to Mr. Strahonr $300,000
in cash and raised most of the money invested in what
was to be a terminal site for railroads, not to have it
turned over to the Southern Pacific, but to be used for
the creation of ah agency ' through which competing
, lines were to be brought to this city. Since that object
is now. defeated through the deal consumated between
the Southern Pacific company and Mr. Strahorn, the
. people want their money-back and they are not going to
stop demanding it until that result is accomplished. '
"-.--Jjet.us have an accounting of the Terminal Fund.

Stewart's Daily, Letter
WASHINGTON, May 25. Prohi
bitionists are none too well pleased
at the refusal of General Lincoln C.
Andrews, assistant secretary of the
treasury, especially in charge of dry
enforcement, to permit any refer
ence to the eighteenth amendment

throughout the country.
That Is to say, the poster, slogans
and pictures must boost for law ob

concentrate on any ono law In par

will take nil the "punch" out of the

disregard for law lies the greatest
danger to tho republic," will touch
tho average American's conscionco
as it would bo touched by the scroll,
