Would Spare Coyotes
to Keep Down Rabbits
CALGARY, Alta., May 7. W. II.
Fletcher of Brant, Alberta, bus
written tho department of agricul
ture ot the province that far from
encouraging slaughter of coyotes,
which has long been a provincial
policy, tho killing of ono of thoao
animals should be mado a crlmo.
Ho oxplalncd that Jnck-rubblli, by
consuming crops and damaging trees
had become a scouraga to farmers.
Ho expressed belief that coyotes hud
formerly kept down tho uuinbor of
rauuits.
Fletcher predicted that If coyotes
were not permitted lo prey upon
rabbits, tli intt,.r would become
such an evil, as they did In Ails-trallln.
