the news of 'the death of Miss-Martha
Margaret Merrill,. only daughter
of Sir. and Mrs. Ray Merrill and ;a
popular student in the high school.
She was taken ill a' week ago with
scarlet fever but until Friday night
was not considered dangerous. But
then hroat complications set In.
Dr. Campbell' and' Dr. Rea were
called' from Klamath " Falls and a
slight operation was performed on
the throat. Everything possible was
done In an effort to save her life
but to no avail. ' She passed away

1 Martha Margaret Merrill was
born In Merrill, Nov. 16, 1910, and
bad lived in Merrill practically all
her life. She had spent some time
however in Oakland, Calif., with
relatives. She was a freshman in
the high school and was one of the
most attractive as -well as one of
the most popular girls in school.
. Her untimely death .was a great
shock to her many friends and to
the friends of her parents, who are
left childless by her death; a son
having died In Inrancy many year)
ago. The body will leive Wednes
day for Redding where Imrinl will
