"Explosion Wrecks Part-Try,"
of Coal Mine
WEST : NEWTON, P-. April 27.
Five construction workmen were
killed in an explosion at the Humph
rey mine" ot the West Moreland Coal
company near here last night. One
man on the tipple when it was
wrecked by the force of the blast
wag blown to bits and the bodies of
the four others were found' early to
day along the slope about- 600 feet
Inside the mine.
Rescue men advanced the opin
ion that the explosion was caused
by an accumulation of gas.
HERALD LOSES TO
HENLEY BALL TEAM
In " a fast ball, game at Henley
yesterday. The Evening Herald base
ball team, was defeated by the Hen
ley tossers, 15 to 13. Most of the
runs were scored in the first four
Innings. After that both teams set
tled down - and played good ball,
but the Henley boys were a bit too
experienced for the newspaper men.
A return game will be played some
time In May.

around, the Klamath Foreat Pro
tective headquarters moves from its
winter offices In the Loomis build
ing to summer quarters on Conger
avenue. In accordance with the. an
nual custom, the assoqlutlon forco
turned their hauls to moving 'over
the week-end and. are now establish

which overlook Link river. Jack
