Walter Tanksley, wlthra the past
few days, walked out of the Mult
nomah county Jail a free man once
again. With his step across the
threshioli of the Jail door, he
turned the last page of the Interest
ing book entitled, "Bootlegging ac
tivities of tile Tinkslejs in Kkim
ath." '
For a space of three months -the
Tanksley family occupied a promi
nent position in the Klamath news
columns and in "the cells of tho
Klamath county jail. Walter was ar
rested, and convicted In circuit
court. Unable to pay the fine Im
posed by ' Judge A. L. Leavltt he
was sent to the Multnomah county
jail to serve time. Roy, his older
broUer, served time in jail and
paid his fine, on the charge of pos
session of a still. It is an open secret
that G. W. Tanksley, former state
prohibition officer and father of
Roy and Walter, Is wanted here on
a secret grand jury Indictment
charging him with violating the
liquor law. ,

board of directors of the district.
