USES TRACTOR
AS LOCOMOTIVE
It will probably bo news to many
to learn that a tractor may be used ,
as a locomotive, but not only can ;
It be .used, but It Is being uied by
the Copco organization for Just such
a purpose. The tractor referred to
la what Is known es the Fordaon
locomotive and Is now In use at the
big Copco No. 2 project .on the
Klamath River tt facilitate the
hauling at heavy materials on ona
of the narrow gauge railroads,
which are In operation over there.
This equipment consists of the
regular farm tractor fitted with
special locomotive wheels and brak
es and a heavy locomotive frame
with drawbar heads and bumpers.
The complete unit weighs four tons
and Is designed to handle a load of
approximately thirty tons. This
unique locomotive hauls heavy loa Js 1
of lumber, steel and concrete used
