State Institutions, Is Plan
STATE HOUSE, Salem, Ore., Feb. 18. That all
farming operations at state institutions should be placed
under the supervision ofone man, to the end -of saving
the state an estimated $100,000 a year, has been recom
mended to the ways and means committee last night by
a sub-committee of which Senator Beals was chairman,
and this recommendation will be submitted to the state
board of control. '.
Losses in the farm operations at some of the institu
tions, ascertained in an investigation by Beals and others
caused the recommendation.
